You know how you wake up some days asking yourself what day it is? More often than not I wake up wondering what month it is. This happens a lot when I’m working completely out of season. I just finished up some Valentine product prototypes for one company, writing August blog posts for another, designing a Halloween craft for a publication and steadily putting together supplies for my Christmas project kits for The Creative Connection!
I am so excited to be teaching at the The Creative Connection this September! I’ve been gathering lots and lots of fabulous vintage goodies for my craft kits. I thought you might like a sneak peek of some of the crafty stash in an effort to entice you to head to St. Paul and craft with me and make one or both of these fun projects. Let’s go be inspired, motivated and changed by the entire incredible TCC event!
Some of the craft kit supplies for the REVERSE CANVAS WINTER SCENE and RECORD CYLINDER TREE, ORNAMENT AND CARD HOLDER are:
Cylinder sleeves from my collection of antique cylinder records. I can’t get enough of the gorgeous typography, graphics and colors.(Here’s an image of an old Edison Phonograph designed to play the cylinder records.)
We will only be using the sleeves and lids, the records themselves will go to my friend Nicole of Vinyl Frontier for repurposing. If you sign up for the cylinder record class and would like to have one of the actual record cylinders, just drop me an email and I’ll bring one for you.
I’ll be pulling from this enormous spool of vintage sisal twine to create the handmade trees for the cylinder project.
Each cylinder project kit will have many little vintage items for the ATC collage pieces.
Vintage Christmas postage stamps.
Vintage Dennison stars and labels.
Tiny vintage tinsel garland.
Old milk bottle caps.
Gold and silver vintage bullion.
Lots of great vintage winter photos.
Vintage silver pipe cleaners.
Small vintage bottle brush trees still priced at .49 ea!
Vintage cigar box tape.
I’m pulling the Kodak Kodachrome slides from this great old case for the reverse canvas project…
and tying them up with bakers twine which I will have plenty of on hand during the classes.
I hope we have a chance to meet at TCC! Be sure to sign up for updates on their site to keep aprised of all the exciting things planned for you there!
where do you find all this stuff?? I would never be able to find it here. It’s all so very cool.
For the love of Christmas! You stash is killing me 🙂
I wish I was going! I love all the items you are taking and i would enjoy the class! Have fun!
As always….just amazing! I am not too far from you – Merced CA – hope that I can attend a class that is closer than MN one of these days!
xoxo
I love the cigar label tape, Cathe! And that biscuit box looks familiar…..
Good eye Mitzi!! I love that box from YOU! You always carry the coolest stuff!
Love all these supplies!! Wishing I lived closer!
I love this!!!!
these look FAB!! Wish i could come, only the goodies look great already, but it is a little far from my home in Holland, Europe… Please keep us foreigners posted, so we can join a little in this!
And have a blast time!
This is my first year putting a holiday line together & I agree, it disorienting. It’s 95 degrees out. Why am I wrapping Christmas gifts? My dreams are a mess from it & I’ve started making gift lists already. We’re going to be exhausted by the time December actually gets here.
So, if we live far far away from where you’re teaching the classes, can we still buy a kit somehow? I really, really want one!
Truly wonderful treasures!
If you get a chance, please stop by and enter the giveaway I am hosting on my blog.
Happy Monday!
Okay, this post helped me make the decision to head on to the Creative Connection again this year. Hope there is still a spot in your class!
I want to come so bad! Looks amazing. What fun!!
Do u have a tutorial for making the trees out of sisal? I would love to make some soon!
